Architecture & Implementation

My personal homelab. A fully functional private cloud environment used as a sandbox for testing and refining enterprise-grade infrastructure. This lab is the engine behind my technical growth, where I implement and manage a stack featuring Traefik for reverse proxying, Authelia for authentication, and an observability suite (Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Alloy, OpenTelemetry). By managing the entire lifecycle, from hardware and hypervisor to container orchestration, I ensure that every solution I provide to clients is battle-tested in a real-world environment before deployment.

Features

  • Proxmox hypervisor server – Lenovo ThinkServer RD340
    • Hosting multiple VM and LXC services, from local web development to telemetry tracking.
  • Docker host 1 – SuperMicro X9SCM-F
    • Hosts multiple Docker container apps, feeding my media stack and other experiments.
  • Docker host 2 – Lenovo ThinkCentre M700
    • Hosts multiple ephemeral Docker containers. Testing, toys, and other non-essential services.
  • NAS/Local Backup/Media – Dell R330
    • 27TB of local RAID10 storage, hosting backups (pushed to BackBlaze B2 for long-term storage) for local machines and serving media from Plex and Emby media servers.

NAS and Docker 1 are connected to a robust 10 Gbit Ethernet trunk through a reliable Juniper Labs enterprise switch, which not only facilitates their internal communication but also efficiently connects them to the internet, allowing for seamless data transfer and high-speed access. This connection is optimized to handle the full bandwidth available from my 3 Gbit fiber connection, ensuring that both NAS and Docker can operate at peak performance levels without encountering any bottlenecks during heavy usage or data-heavy operations. This setup provides a solid foundation for various applications, increasing productivity and enhancing the overall user experience.
